Problems with engine light and loss of power in 2021 Opel Insignia Diesel - Possible cause: Swirl flap control system
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Opel Insignia Diesel is experiencing engine light activation, reduced performance, rough idling, jerking during acceleration, loud hissing, and vibrations. The suspected cause is a malfunction in the swirl flap control system on the intake manifold. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a faulty gearbox intake manifold actuation, suggesting a visit to a garage for diagnosis and repair is necessary.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply! My Insignia now has 66,507 km on the clock. The last inspection was recently, and everything was still in order. There was no indication of a defective swirl flap control or anything similar. It's really stupid to have such problems with an almost new car. Of course I hope that the repair costs will be lower for me, but I'm already preparing myself for the worst. Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I will probably have to go to the garage as soon as possible. Best regards.

Moin, yes, that sounds really annoying, especially with a car as new as your Insignia. Fresh from the MOT and then something like that... What you're describing sounds a lot like my problem. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's something else, but if it's the same, prepare yourself for a big chunk of work. Unfortunately, the repair costs are usually not cheaper. However, it's good that you've noticed the problem now and aren't just ignoring it. You should never drive with a lit check engine indicator. So take it to the garage and hope that it's good. In my case, they set it up perfectly and it's been running again ever since. Let me know what you find out. Take care and drive safely! Best regards.

Hey, thanks for the support and useful advice! It seems I have no choice but to swallow the bitter pill and take the car to the garage. I really hope the problem isn't as serious as it sounds. Anyway, safety first. I'll give you an update as soon as I have more information. See you then and take care of yourself too! Bye.

Hello, I can tell you a thing or two about that. I had a fairly similar problem with my 2019 Opel Astra Diesel. I'm just a car enthusiast with limited experience, but I remember this being an expensive problem. I was told at my garage that the actuation of my gearbox intake manifold was faulty. This was the reason for the rough engine running, lack of power and hissing. The repair cost me around 465.0 euros. It was no walk in the park, but since then my Astra has been running like clockwork. Can you perhaps give me some more information about your vehicle? Mileage, specific model variants or when you last had major maintenance done. Maybe then I can help you even better. One thing is for sure, you should definitely visit a garage. Hopefully this information has been helpful.
