Problems with engine noise, performance and fuel consumption in a 2007 Citroen Nemo - troubleshooting tips wanted
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Citroen Nemo is experiencing engine noise, twitching during acceleration, power loss, increased fuel consumption, and an illuminated check engine light. The initial suspicion is a faulty knock sensor. However, suggestions include checking for a defective cable or connector, inspecting the V-belt, and cleaning the throttle valve housing, as these issues could cause similar symptoms. The recommendation is to have these components checked and serviced at a garage.

Hey, thanks for the tip! So my Nemo has now run 26,847 km, has a gasoline engine and was last serviced a few months ago. I haven't had another service since then. I have noticed that sometimes the throttle sticks and the engine rattles a bit when I accelerate. I hope this helps you a bit. Thanks again for the help!

Hi, your Nemo hasn't been on the road very long, so there shouldn't really be anything as serious as a defective knock sensor. With your mileage, I'm thinking of something "simpler", perhaps really just a defective cable/plug as in my case. However, the rattling could possibly also indicate a defective V-belt or something similar. If the throttle valve is sticking, this could also be an indication of a dirty throttle valve housing - a common problem. It might be a good idea to have it cleaned, which can work wonders and doesn't cost the earth. But don't worry too much. Your symptoms sound more like minor problems that you should be able to get under control with manageable effort. Have it checked in the workshop and then give us an update! If you have any other questions, keep them coming! Have a good trip and cheer up, you'll be fine!

Hey, you're right! I thought it could be worse. So, I'll follow your tips and go to the garage to address the throttle problem and have the cables/plugs checked. I'll also have another look at that V-belt. You've really eased my fears, thank you very much! Wish you a happy new year too! Hopefully this one will be better than the last! I'll let you know as soon as I have an update. See you then!

Hi mate, I had a similar problem with my 2005 Citroen Berlingo, my knowledge of cars is pretty limited but luckily my garage was able to solve the problem. It eventually turned out that the cable/connector was faulty, resulting in uneven performance and increased fuel consumption. The repair cost 95 euros, which was pretty fair in terms of labor and parts cost. To give you more detailed advice, it would be helpful to know more about your vehicle. Can you share more details such as model specifications, recent repairs carried out or other symptoms you have noticed?
