Problems with engine oil pressure in VW Touran Diesel 2012 - experience and suggested solutions wanted

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Oil light on

Hey guys, I need your help. My VW Touran Diesel from 2012 is starting to have problems. The oil light is on and a warning light is flashing in the speedometer. I suspect that the engine oil pressure control is going wrong. Have any of you experienced this before and could give me tips on how to isolate the problem? I would like to know how your garage has solved this and what experience you have had with it. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2010 VW Passat Diesel. I would classify my knowledge of cars as low, so I went to the garage. They quickly found out that my engine oil level was far too low. The garage took the opportunity to change the oil and fill it with a thicker oil. This service cost me 365 euros. Is your oil level also far too low? Which version of the Touran are you driving exactly? With this information, I might be able to help you even better.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. My Touran version is the Highline. So I checked the oil level according to your tip and it does indeed look like the oil level is too low. So I obviously have a leak, just don't have a plan where yet. Last service was at 154712 km, I'm just surprised I didn't notice it. I'll have to take it to the garage urgently. What else did you learn on the subject when you had your Passat repaired? Would be super grateful for any further advice!

Hey, great that you checked the oil level. So, what I've learned from my experience is that an oil level that is too low can be very damaging to the engine. It can lead to increased wear and even engine damage if you don't do something about it immediately. We should remember that even VW engines can wear out over time and show signs of this. What you should do now is definitely go to a specialist garage. Let them diagnose the exact problem and then act accordingly. In my case, they drained the oil and filled it with new oil. The problem with the engine oil pressure regulation could of course also play a role, as this affects the correct functioning of the engine. I would recommend you mention this specifically to the garage so they can check it. Hope this helps you! Stay tuned and let us know how it turns out. All the best!

Hi, wow, thanks for the detailed advice and helpful information. I think you're right, I should urgently take the Touran to the garage. The engine wear is a real challenge. I was planning to change the oil anyway, but now I have a better idea with your advice. I will definitely address the issue of engine oil pressure regulation at the garage. Really helpful, thank you very much! I'll keep you posted on how things turn out. Hopefully I can solve the problem soon. Wish you all the best!
