Problems with flickering lights and warning light on Opel Karl petrol engine, model year 2015: Tips and experience wanted on how to fix it

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Dim or flickering lights

Hello everyone, I have a strange problem with my Opel Karl petrol engine, built in 2015. The lights flicker or are dark and the warning light in the speedometer flashes from time to time. I suspect that maybe the vehicle software is going crazy. Who has had this before and what did you do to fix it in the workshop? How did the whole thing go? I would appreciate any tips and experiences!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Opel Corsa a few years ago. I don't exactly have the most car knowledge, but I'm doing my best. My Corsa had a faulty engine control unit. I took my car to the local garage and we went through everything. In the end, they replaced the engine control unit and I had to pay 1000.0 euros for it. Could you perhaps give us a few more details about your car, such as the number of kilometers or when the problem first occurred? The more information, the better we might be able to help.

Hey, thanks for the insight! My Karl has done 142015 km so far. The light problem started a few weeks ago. I've already had an inspection done, but so far nothing concrete has been found. During my last inspection about 2 months ago, nothing conspicuous was noticed. Perhaps this additional information will help.

Hi again! Thanks for the extra info. I can fully understand how annoying and frustrating that must be. In my Corsa, the light problem also came on suddenly and it took some time for the garage to find the fault in the engine control unit. I would recommend having a detailed diagnosis carried out again by an authorized dealer or a specialized workshop if this has not already been done. It's great that your Karl is still getting regular inspections, that could definitely help you solve the problem. Perhaps they could also check the vehicle's software and update it if necessary. It could be costly, but if it solves the problem, it would be worth it. Stay on the ball and don't let it get you down! Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the feedback and advice. I now realize that I should perhaps really consider a detailed diagnosis at an authorized dealer or a specialized workshop. I also hadn't considered the idea of checking and possibly updating the vehicle software before. It's a bit scary how expensive it could all be, but you're right: if it solves the problem, then it's worth it. I'll keep at it, like you said, and hopefully see a light at the end of the tunnel soon. Thanks again!
