Problems with Ford Fiesta convertible top and warning light: suspected defective Hall sensor
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Ford Fiesta owner is experiencing issues with the convertible top not opening or closing and a warning light on the speedometer. The suspected cause is a faulty signal from the convertible top's Hall sensor. A similar issue in a Ford Focus was resolved by checking and repairing faulty cables and plug connections, suggesting a similar approach for the Fiesta. It is recommended to have the garage inspect these components and consider recalibrating the Hall sensor.

Sure, I can give you a bit more information. Well, it's a Fiesta Titanium, has automatic air conditioning, heated seats and a Sony audio system. I bought it as an annual car at the time and have driven about 85631 km since then. The last service was last year. Thanks for the tip about the plug connections, I'll definitely take that up with my garage.

Hi again, so with the information it definitely sounds like you probably have the same issue as I did back then. With these certain models, the reverb sensor from the soft top can really cause problems. With your Fiesta Titanium, the special audio system and driving over 85,000 km, I would recommend you get a full check done at the garage and discuss the connector thing to make sure they don't have any damage. They may also be able to recalibrate the hall sensor if that is the case. I hope this helps you and your Fiesta will be fine soon. Good luck!

Hey, that's really a help, thanks for your quick and detailed reply. Yes, I think that's a good idea. I will definitely insist that my garage takes a close look at the connectors and the hall sensor. I will also bring up the recalibration issue. Hopefully my dear Fiesta will be fine and I can open and close the convertible top again. Thanks again for your help and good luck with your Focus. See you next time!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2009 Ford Focus convertible. I only have some experience with cars. My problem was that the cables and the plug connections were faulty and therefore interfered with the signal of the Hall sensor from the soft top. They fixed it in the workshop for 95 euros. If I were you, I would have the cables and plug connections checked. Can you perhaps tell me a bit more about your Fiesta, for example the exact equipment and model? Then I might be able to help you even better.
