Problems with Ford Maverick Diesel 2007: Glow plug fault and DPF regeneration
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Ford Maverick Diesel is experiencing issues with the glow plug indicator light staying on, black smoke from the exhaust, delayed cold starts, and non-functioning DPF regeneration. These symptoms suggest a potential glow plug malfunction or an ECU fault. A similar issue in a 2009 Ford Escape Diesel was resolved by replacing the control unit. It is recommended to conduct a diagnostic check at a garage to identify the exact cause and rectify the problem.

Hey, thanks for your contribution. That does sound like a possibility, even if it would be annoying to have to replace the control unit. The indicator lights that come on are the engine light and the preglow light. Also, it's interesting to know that my mileage is only at 55744 km, so pretty low for a problem like this I think. Nothing abnormal was found at my last service a few months ago. Special thanks for sharing your experience, I appreciate any tips!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help. My Ford Escape Diesel had about 80,000 kilometers on the clock when I had similar symptoms. With your low mileage, the whole thing is really annoying. The glow plugs you mentioned could actually play a role. In my case, replacing the control unit helped. However, if the warning lights are active, it could also be another sensor that is going wrong. Perhaps have a diagnosis carried out in the workshop. It may cost a few euros, but it can solve a lot of mysteries. I hope this helps you. Have a good trip and keep us up to date on how things are going with your Ford Maverick Diesel!

Hello, thank you for the helpful explanations. I will indeed visit a garage and have a diagnosis carried out. I am annoyed that this is happening with such low mileage, but your experience shows me that these problems can occur even in younger vehicles. Thank you again and yes, I will keep you posted on how my Ford Maverick Diesel progresses!

Hi mate, I had a similar problem with my 2009 Ford Escape Diesel. To me it sounds a lot like an ECU fault. I'm not a professional, but would consider myself a hobby mechanic with some experience. I took the car to my regular garage and explained what was wrong. The guys then replaced the control unit. It cost me a total of 575 euros, but since then it has been running like clockwork again. To be able to help you in more detail, could you tell me exactly which warning signals are displayed?
