Problems with indicator light and loss of power in Skoda Rapid (2018) - Possible defect in the knock sensor?
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Skoda Rapid (2018) owner is experiencing issues with an indicator light, loss of power, jerking during acceleration, poor fuel consumption, and strange engine noises. The owner suspects a defect in the knock sensor might be the cause. A similar issue was resolved by replacing a cracked knock sensor, which was too tightly fitted, suggesting that checking and possibly replacing the sensor could solve the problem. It is recommended to have the car checked at a garage to confirm the diagnosis and address the issue.

Hey, thanks for your answer! My Rapid has a power output of 110 hp. The noises are strangely independent of speed and more often heard at idle. My speedometer shows 52900 km and the last service was about 5 months ago. I will take your recommendation to heart and have the sensor checked. Maybe it's too tight in my case too... Your experience has helped me a lot!

No problem, you're welcome! I'm glad to hear that my experience has helped you. Your description really sounds like my own experience with the knock sensor. The fault could be caused by the sensor being too tight. However, there could of course be numerous other reasons. I would recommend that you take your car to the garage as soon as possible and have the fault read out. If it is the sensor, the replacement is usually not too expensive and your car will certainly run much better afterwards. As I said, my repair costs were 225 euros, which I thought was very fair. I hope you get your problem solved quickly!

Hello, thank you again for your further advice! I think it's great that you took the time to help me. You're probably right, and I should indeed take my car to the garage as soon as possible. I will ask them to check the sensor and read out the fault, just as you suggested. The cost of 225 euros sounds fair, I hope I will get a reasonable price. It's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one with such problems. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness and help! I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Škoda Superb (built in 2016). I am not a car mechanic, I would say I have little experience with cars, but I always try to solve minor problems myself before taking it to the garage. With my problem, it was because the sensor was too tight and cracked at the housing. The solution was to replace the damaged sensor. I paid 225 euros for the repair, which I thought was reasonable. To help you more accurately, I need more information about your car. What power does your engine have? Are there any running engine noises or do they only occur at certain speeds? I hope this helps you!
