Problems with low battery and flickering lights in the 2013 Renault Fluence

Hello everyone! My 2013 Renault Fluence, diesel engine, has recently started having problems. When starting, the battery is weak and the lights flicker. I think the fault may lie with the auxiliary battery. Has anyone had similar experiences and can perhaps give me tips on how to isolate the problem? I would like to know how others have solved the problem in the workshop. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had something similar with my 2011 Renault Megane, which is a bit older than yours. My knowledge level of cars is not high, but I do have a bit of experience. When I went to the garage they found that the battery was faulty and they replaced it, it cost me 290 euros. If you give me more information about your car, I might be able to help you more accurately. How old is the battery in your car? And has your garage ever said anything about it?

Thanks for your quick reply and the information! The battery in my car is about three years old and I haven't had any negative feedback from my garage so far. During the last inspection (at 68360 km), I also didn't get any indication that the battery was weakening. I will follow your advice and have the battery checked. Hopefully it's as easy to solve as with your Megane. Thanks again!

Hello again! You're welcome! I'm glad I was able to help. Your battery is fairly new, normally a battery should last between 5 and 7 years unless there is an electronic problem or something similar. You might also want to have the alternator checked for now, as it's responsible for charging the battery. If the problem persists, the extra battery could actually be the problem. In my Megane it was only the main battery, but I've also heard that the auxiliary battery can cause problems from time to time. You could also use a multimeter and check whether the battery drops below 12.4 volts during the starting process, this would be a clear sign that the battery is no longer in order. Hope you solve the problem soon. Good luck!

Hello again! Many thanks for the detailed tips, they are really helpful! Having the battery and alternator checked again and possibly using the multimeter are good ideas. Regarding the additional battery, I will now also find out whether it is the problem. I'll let you know as soon as I know more. Hopefully there will be a simple solution. Thanks again for your help!
