Problems with Mercedes CLA Class (2014): Engine light, uneven engine running and camshaft sensor defect
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Mercedes CLA Class is experiencing issues with the engine light, reduced power, rough running, starting problems, jerking during acceleration, and stalling at idle. The suspected cause is a faulty camshaft sensor. A similar issue in another Mercedes model was resolved by replacing the master gear on the camshafts, suggesting this could be a potential solution. Regular maintenance and a thorough check at a garage are recommended to address the problem.

Hey, thanks for the info! Well then, my Benz now has 74859 km on the clock. I did my last inspection recently. But the encoder wheel makes sense, maybe it really was that. Your repair costs scare me a bit, but if it helps, it must be done. I'll have a look at my garage and have it checked. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem! Yes, the repair costs are a real blow, but after that your car should run smoothly again. Given the mileage, it's quite possible that something is wrong with the camshaft sensor or the encoder wheel. Regular maintenance is great, it certainly helps to avoid a lot of problems. Have it checked at the workshop. I'd be delighted to hear how it went for you. All the best!

Hi, thanks for your advice! Yes, I understand what you're saying and I'm willing to pay for it. I trust my garage. I'll take it there tomorrow and let you know what happened afterwards. Hopefully all will be well. Thanks again and stay well!

Hello, what kind of car do you have? It sounds to me as if the engine is fixed.

Hello, I recently had almost the same thing with my Mercedes E-Class model year 2012, so quite similar. I'm not a car expert, but I have a bit of experience from several repairs. At my garage, they determined that the problem was with the master gear on the camshafts. They replaced it and yes, it wasn't a cheap repair - I had to pay 695 euros for it. But since then everything has been running perfectly again. So that I can help you better, could you perhaps share some information about your car? For example: Mileage of the car, when you last had an oil change, etc. Hopefully that will help you!
