Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My GLA has already clocked up 155,848 kilometers and I've never actually had the engine control unit replaced. Apart from that, my car is in good general condition and has been serviced regularly - the last service was just last month. The engine control unit is of course an option, but first I want to find out more and maybe it will be the ignition coil after all. 10 euros is a lot of money! Thanks for the tip and best regards!

Hello again, yes, I fully understand that 1000 euros is a lot of money. It was a big shock to me too. If your GLA has been regularly serviced and is otherwise in good condition, it could be something smaller than the engine control unit. I have to admit that it was the worst possible scenario for me. If I were you, I would also consider all other potential causes. Like you said, it could just as easily be a faulty ignition coil or misfiring. The easiest way to check this, in my opinion, would be an OBDII scanner. It's an inexpensive tool that can tell you exactly what's wrong with your car by reading the fault code. Hopefully this will help you and you can fix the problem soon. Good luck with that! Best regards.

Hi again, thanks for your very helpful ideas, an OBDII scanner sounds like a good investment to get some clarity. You're right, it's always good to go through all scenarios before spending so much money. Maybe I'm lucky and it really is "just" an ignition coil problem. I'll have a think about it and then make the right decision. Thanks again and all the best! Best regards!

Hey, the issues you are facing with your Mercedes GLA from 2017 could stem from fuel injector problems (injectors, pump, filter), turbocharger faults or engine sensors. I would use a scanner to check the diagnostics of the car first. Other options can include consulting a professional for help. Cheers!

Hi, I had to go through similar problems with my Mercedes GLC class, year 2015, diesel. I only have a little experience with cars, so I had it checked at my garage. It turned out that the engine control unit was faulty, not the ignition coil. The repair cost 1000 euros, which was expensive, but since then the car has been running perfectly again. It would be helpful if you could give me more information about your problem. What is the general condition of your car? Has the engine control unit ever been replaced or repaired? Best regards.
