Problems with overheating and defective air conditioning in Citroen DS5, model year 2016

Hi guys, I have a strange problem with my Citroen DS5, model year 2016, petrol engine. It gets too hot and the air conditioning won't start. Could the engine fan speed sensor be faulty? Have any of you ever had similar problems and how did you solve them? What experiences have you had in the workshop? I would appreciate your tips and advice.

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Citroen DS5 with a petrol engine is experiencing overheating and non-functional air conditioning. The issue might be related to a faulty engine fan speed sensor or a defective control unit. It is suggested to visit a garage to have the fault memory read out, and if the control unit is the problem, considering used parts might be a cost-effective solution.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I once had a similar problem with my 2014 Citroën C5. I would say I have some experience with cars. I had to take it to the garage and it turned out that the control unit was faulty. That cost me a whopping 1000 euros. To help you better, could you tell me a bit more about your car? How many kilometers have you driven and how thorough was the last inspection? I hope we can solve your problem.

Hi, thanks for your help and tips. My DS5 already has 122284 KM on the clock. My last service was quite extensive, but that was a while ago. I'll take it to the garage and have it checked. Your tip about the control unit could really help.

No problem, that's what we're all here for, to help each other. With over 120,000 KM, it can happen. With 160,000 KM, our C5 is almost a veteran. Every now and then something breaks that you don't immediately notice. So your suspicion about the speed sensor may well be justified. It's best to go to the garage and have the fault memory read out. If it really is the control unit, you might be able to get away a bit cheaper with a used part. But the guys at the workshop will be able to judge that best. Then let us know what you find out! Have a good trip and good luck solving the problem!

Thanks for the great advice and support. I will go to the garage and get it all checked out. If it is the ECU, I will definitely consider used parts. I will definitely report back later on what came out of it. Thanks again for your help and good wishes. Supporting each other is really what makes forums like this so great! Thumbs up! See you then!
