Problems with Peugeot 4008 petrol engine 2013: engine failure, loss of power and anomalies in the crankcase ventilation system

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Peugeot 4008 petrol engine from 2013. The warning light is on, the engine switches off by itself, has lost power and runs unevenly. I'm also worried about the jerking when accelerating, poor fuel consumption and shuddering when idling. I suspect that the fault could be in the crankcase ventilation system. Have any of you had similar experiences and how did your garages solve it? I would be very grateful for any tips and advice. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A Peugeot 4008 petrol engine from 2013 is experiencing engine failure, loss of power, and anomalies in the crankcase ventilation system. The issues include the engine switching off, uneven running, jerking during acceleration, poor fuel consumption, and shuddering when idling. A similar case with a Peugeot 2008 suggested that a faulty crankcase ventilation system could be the cause, and a garage repair resolved the issue. It is recommended to have the car checked by a professional to confirm the diagnosis and proceed with necessary repairs.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I've had a similar experience but I'm not a car professional. My car is a Peugeot 2008 from 2011, so very similar to yours. I also had a faulty crankcase ventilation system. I then went to my garage and they repaired it for 360 euros. Not cheap, but the car ran like clockwork again afterwards. Can you perhaps give me more details about your car? Model, mileage, maintenance history and so on. Then I might be able to help you even better.

Hey, thanks for your answer. My Peugeot has 37171 KM on the clock so far and the last service was not long ago. Hopefully this will help you.

Hi, thanks for the additional information! With your mileage, it's not very common, but it could definitely be due to the crankcase ventilation. My 2011 Peugeot had around 80,000 KM on the clock when the problem occurred. What you should definitely do is take your car to a garage and have the fault checked more closely. If it really is the crankcase ventilation, as in my car, then unfortunately it won't be cheap. But after that, your Peugeot should run smoothly again. Regarding the service: It would be helpful to know what was done during your last service. Perhaps something was overlooked that is now causing your problem. Good luck and keep us posted on how things progress!

Thanks for the suggestion, I will take my car to the garage as soon as possible. The last service actually checked everything basic, but apparently that wasn't enough. I hope the repair will solve my problem soon. I'll definitely keep you guys posted. Thanks again for your help!
