Problems with Renault Captur Diesel 2024: Black smoke, longer cold start time and failed DPF regeneration
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The Renault Captur Diesel 2024 is experiencing issues such as black smoke during acceleration, longer cold start times, failed DPF regeneration, and unstable idling. The owner suspects the glow control unit might be the cause. A similar problem was resolved by another Renault owner by replacing the faulty control unit. Despite replacing the glow control unit, the issues persist, suggesting that the control unit might indeed be the problem. The owner is advised to get multiple cost estimates for replacing the control unit.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! Error codes have been read out and yes, I have already replaced the glow control unit. But unfortunately that doesn't seem to have solved the problem. By the way, my last inspection was at 89810 km. So I must be expecting a broken control unit, as you said. My garage hasn't confirmed this yet. But better be prepared for an estimate! Thanks again for the info!

Hey, Ahh then we've got that out of the way! My experience says that in this case it could really be the control unit. If the same problems still occur after replacing the glow control unit, I strongly suspect the control unit. It worked for me at the time and my Clio has been running like a dream ever since. A little tip from me: be sure to get several estimates, as the prices for replacing the unit can vary greatly. It would be perfect if you know someone who can do it for you at a lower price. Good luck, I hope your Renault is back on the road soon! And don't worry, we've all been there, come on, you can do it! Feel free to get in touch again if you need any more information. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Hello, thanks again for the detailed reply. You're right, the control unit really does sound like the culprit. Good to know that persistent faults after replacing the glow control unit can point to this. I wouldn't have thought so directly before. And thanks for the tip about the cost estimates! I'll definitely follow that. Unfortunately, I don't have a friend who can do it more easily, but I can do it. Somehow and somewhere - haha. Your words are really encouraging though, thank you! I'll let you know as soon as there's any news. Keep your fingers crossed and see you then!

Hey, I had the same fault and then all the glow plugs + control unit were replaced. Now 20,000km later, everything is still fine.

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Renault Clio Diesel (year of manufacture 2022). Almost the same model, just two years older. I'm not a car expert, but I know my way around a bit. At my garage, it turned out that the control unit itself was faulty, which in their experience is the most common cause of faults. I had to pay about 1000 euros to fix it. To be able to help you better, I would need some additional information: has your garage read out any error codes? And have you already tried replacing the glow control unit? I hope this helps you!
