Problems with Renault Twingo (2018, diesel): Check engine light, reduced engine power and possible defect in the swirl flap control system
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Renault Twingo (2018, diesel) is experiencing issues such as a check engine light, reduced engine power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, loud hissing, and shaking when idling. The suspected cause is a faulty swirl flap control on the intake manifold. A similar issue in a Renault Clio was resolved by replacing a faulty control unit on the shift intake manifold, suggesting a diagnostic check at a different workshop might be beneficial.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! My Twingo already has 127086 km on the clock. So it's no longer a new car, but it's not exactly a classic car either. Its last service was recently, but these problems keep cropping up. The garage couldn't really help. Your information is super helpful though, maybe I should try a different garage.

Hey, no problem, we all help each other here, right? Well, if you've only recently had the car serviced and these problems are still occurring, that doesn't really sound good. It could also be a question of lack of expertise from the garage. You could be right, it does sound like the fault is with the swirl flap control on the intake manifold. I would advise you to have a diagnostic check of the engine electronics at another workshop. I took my Clio to a Renault workshop and they quickly identified the problem. It cost a bit, but I think it was worth it. Give it a try and please give us an update here. Good luck buddy!

Hey, thanks for your support! That was really valuable advice. I will definitely go to another garage and have the car checked there. Who knows, maybe I'll be lucky and the problem can be solved easily. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again and have a nice evening!

Hey buddy, I had a similar problem with my Renault Clio (2016, diesel engine). I have a bit of experience with cars, but I'm not a professional or anything. When the problem happened to me, I went to my local garage. He found that the control unit from the shift intake manifold was faulty. The repair cost me about 465 euros. It sounds like you have the same problem. Can you give me more details about your Twingo? How many kilometers has it run and what about general maintenance? Maybe then I can help you more.
