Problems with Seat Alhambra 2011: Engine light on and loss of power
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The Seat Alhambra 2011 is experiencing engine issues, including a persistent engine light, loss of power, rough idling, and starting difficulties. These symptoms suggest a malfunctioning camshaft sensor. Replacing the camshaft sensor is a common solution, as confirmed by others with similar experiences, and typically resolves the problem without significant expense. After replacement, the vehicle should regain smooth operation and performance.

Hey, your problem sounds very similar to what I had a few weeks ago with my 2014 Seat Alhambra. My engine performance was also noticeably down, and yes, my engine was also juddering at idle. It does seem to be the camshaft sensor in your case. Don't worry, it's really not a big problem and should be fairly easy to fix. When I had this problem last time, the mechanics replaced the camshaft sensor and then everything ran smoothly again. It's not a massive repair, just a sensor that's causing all these signs. Your mechanics should be able to fix the problem and get you back on the road. Good luck with that!

Hey, very helpful answer, thanks! I'm having a similar problem with my 2012 BMW X3 right now. The power is dropping a lot and the car doesn't start well. Have any of you had the same problem before and can you remember the approximate price of the repair? Have any other problems arisen since the repair? Would be very grateful for your help!

Hey, I drive a VW Golf from 2008 and I also had a problem with the camshaft sensor. After I had it checked at the garage, it became clear that the sensor had to be replaced. It cost about €185, which I didn't think was too bad. Since the repair, the error with the malfunction of the camshaft sensor has not recurred - it runs like clockwork again. I hope this helps you with your BMW X3. Don't worry, you can fix it without making a huge hole in your wallet. Good luck, buddy!

Hey, I can say something about that too! I had a very similar problem with my car. The exact diagnosis was a malfunction of the camshaft sensor. The symptoms you describe sound very familiar to me, especially the performance problem and the juddering. After around 100,000 kilometers, it is actually not unusual for such sensor problems to occur. So the mileage of your Seat Alhambra is not necessarily surprising. The good news, however, is that it's not an overly expensive problem. The repair cost me around 200 euros at the time, but of course this can vary slightly from garage to garage. Since replacing the camshaft sensor, my car has been running perfectly again. I hope that helps you. Keep us posted on how it goes. All the best!

Hey guys, really cool that you've all shared such useful experiences and advice. I took my Alhambra to the garage and just like you guys said, it wasn't anything serious and the repairs were pretty straightforward. I had to replace the camshaft sensor on both vehicles. The cost was in line with what you guys quoted, around 185€. All in all, a decent day in the workshop, but the guys did a good job and the cars are now running smoothly again and the power is back. Thank you so much for your help and support! You really helped me to stay cool and solve the problem with confidence. You guys are really great!
