Problems with spray nozzles freezing on a 2018 diesel Mercedes GLA Class

Spray nozzles frozen

Hey guys, does anyone have experience with the problem of the spray nozzles freezing on a 2018 diesel Mercedes GLA Class? I suspect a defect in the spray nozzle heater, but I'm not entirely sure. Can you give me any tips on how to solve the problem or share your experience of having it repaired in the workshop? It would really help me. Many thanks in advance!

Hello, I have had a similar problem with my 2016 Mercedes GLK Class. Cable connection was defective in my case. I would describe myself as someone with a bit of car knowledge. It turned out that the wiring harness to the nozzles had a loose connection. The guys at my garage fixed it and it cost me about €95. Stupid thing, but what can you do, right? Could you tell us a bit more about your car? What exactly are the symptoms? Maybe then I can help you better. Hopefully that will help you!

Hey, thanks for your help! So, my GLA now has 143856 km on it. The nozzles just start icing up, especially when it's really cold outside. The heater doesn't seem to work at all. There were no such problems at the last service. So I'm really at a loss right now. But your idea about the wiring harness sounds plausible. I'll have it checked out. The €95 would be okay with me if that would solve the problem. Thanks again!

Moin, no problem, glad I can help! Yes, the mileage could be a reason. Such problems usually occur after many kilometers and especially in the cold. You could be right about the spray nozzle heater, especially when it gets really cold outside. But it could also simply be the antifreeze. Do you have enough antifreeze in your windshield washer system? Too little antifreeze can also cause the nozzles to freeze. Before you go to the mechanic, could you perhaps check this? It won't cost you anything at first. If that doesn't help, I would definitely have the wiring harness checked, as I did. I hope that helps you!

Hi, thanks for your advice. That's a good point about the antifreeze. I hadn't thought about that. I'll check that and if that doesn't help either, then I'll go to the mechanic for the wiring harness. You've really helped me, thanks again!
