Problems with starting a Toyota Aygo 2018: parking heater as a possible cause?

Car won't start

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Toyota Aygo, built in 2018, with a gasoline engine. The car somehow won't start. I suspect that it might have something to do with the parking heater, but I'm not sure. Do any of you have experience with a problem like this and can give me tips on how to fix it? How did your garages get it sorted? I look forward to hearing your anecdotes and experiences. Thank you very much!

Hello, I'm not a car professional, but I once had a similar problem with my Toyota Yaris, built in 2016. My car wouldn't start either and the cause was a defective glow plug. I went straight to my garage and the guys there sorted it out relatively quickly. It cost me 560 euros to get it fixed. Can you tell me more about the symptoms of your Aygo? Maybe I could help you with more details.

Hey, thanks for your answer! The exact symptoms are really difficult to describe. It's simply that the engine won't start. However, the lights and radio still work. The parking heater used to draw mega amounts of power, now for some reason it doesn't seem to be drawing any. It doesn't come on either. My Aygo currently has 76393 kilometers on it and the last service was about 5000 kilometers ago. I've considered your idea about the defective glow plug and contacted the garage. Let's see what they say. I hope it won't be too expensive...

Thanks for the additional information. It was similar with my Yaris, with the same symptoms. But there can also be other reasons why your car won't start. In my case, as I said, it was the glow plug. But it could be something else in your case. However, I haven't had any experience with the parking heater. In your case, I think it's best to wait and see what the guys at the garage say. Hopefully it's nothing major or too expensive. It's funny, the parking heater used to draw a lot of power, it was the same for me and now it doesn't draw any at all for you. I think it's always good to get things like this checked, because sometimes it's better to spend a bit more money on repairs than risk your Toyota giving up the ghost completely. Hope you get it sorted quickly! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thank you for your assessment and encouragement! Yes, I also hope that it's nothing serious. I can't wait to see what the guys at the workshop find out. I'll keep you up to date. Thanks again for your help. It's always good to talk to others who have had similar problems. It's a bit reassuring. I'll keep my fingers crossed for myself too. Hopefully the parking heater will be back to normal soon and the car will start again as usual.
