Problems with the alarm system in the Toyota Hilux (gasoline, year 2014): Looking for experiences and solutions
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2014 Toyota Hilux with an alarm system issue, suspected to be caused by the auxiliary battery of the anti-theft alarm system. A similar problem was previously resolved by addressing faulty battery contacts on the siren, costing 235 euros. If this doesn't resolve the issue, it might indicate a deeper electrical problem, potentially requiring a full alarm system replacement, which could cost around 500 euros. The suggested approach is to first check the battery contacts before considering more extensive repairs.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! My Hilux is a 2014 model with 245387 KM on the clock. No special features, just the standards. I had the last service appointment a few months ago, but nothing out of the ordinary was found. I think it's great that you know your stuff! I don't know if I can check the battery contact on the alarm system myself, but I'll definitely give it a try. I could cope with 235 euros if that solves my problem. Cool, thank you!

Sure, no problem, always happy to help! Yes, with 245387 KM your Hilux is already an old hand, but the model is actually robust. I would definitely recommend checking the battery contacts on the alarm system. But if you don't feel comfortable with this, I would leave it to a mechanic to avoid further damage. If you can handle it and the problem still persists, then it could indicate a deeper electrical problem. I had to replace my entire alarm system when I was confronted with this problem. It cost around 500 euros, but since then my Hilux has been in top shape. So, my advice is to check the simpler things first before resorting to heavy artillery. Feel free to keep us posted on how things turn out for you. Good luck and patience, buddy!

Hi, thanks again for your helpful information and tips! I will try to check the battery contacts on the alarm system. If that doesn't help, my car mechanic will have to do it and maybe even install a new alarm system. Of course, 500 euros is a bit more expensive, but if it helps, then so be it. Keep your fingers crossed that I can manage it! I'll keep you up to date in any case. See you then and thanks again, buddy!

Hey, I once had a similar problem with my Toyota Hilux Diesel, it's 2012 build, it seems we had the same problem. I would describe myself as someone who has a bit of experience with cars. The problem was that the battery contacts on the siren were faulty. It was a tricky thing, but my mechanic recognized it immediately and repaired it. It cost me a good 235 euros, but after that the problem was solved. Maybe you can have a look to see if this could be the case for you. If you give me more information about your car, I might be able to help you even better. Which model do you have exactly and do you have any special equipment?
