Problems with the check engine light and performance on the Citroen C1 model year 2020: Possible causes and repair tips
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Citroen C1 from 2020 is experiencing issues with the check engine light, engine shutdowns, reduced performance, jerking during acceleration, vibrations when idling, and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause is a problem with the crankcase ventilation, possibly due to high mileage. A similar issue on a Citroen C3 required replacing the crankcase ventilation, costing around €360. It is recommended to perform a fault memory readout to aid in diagnosis and confirm the issue.

Hi, thanks for the answer, really helpful! The mileage of my car is 183910 km and the last service was a few months ago. I haven't done a fault memory readout yet, but I'm going to tackle that. I thought it might be related to the high mileage. The 360 euros doesn't sound too bad now, hopefully it stays that way. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! With the mileage and the nature of your symptoms, it seems very possible that it could be the crankcase breather. High mileage can really take its toll on automotive parts, especially those parts that have to withstand constant movement and high temperatures inside the engine. Please note that the €360 I paid for my repair is just an estimate and it really depends on the specific labor and workshop how much it will end up costing you. As for the fault memory, it would be really helpful if you could have it read out. This could possibly help with the diagnosis. Please keep us posted if you find out more. Hopefully it's nothing more serious and can be fixed quickly and not too expensively. All the best, buddy!

Hello, very good that you helped! Yep, I'll definitely do that with the fault memory. Hopefully you're right and the problem really is just the crankcase ventilation. In any case, I won't be quite so ignorant at the next workshop. I really appreciate the help and I'll keep you posted! Fingers crossed that it's nothing worse. Thanks a lot buddy, see you then!

Hi, I have a bit of experience with cars as I own a 2018 Citroen C3 myself and had a similar problem. The symptoms do indeed sound like there is a problem with the crankcase ventilation. On my C3, the crankcase ventilation was defective and I had to have it replaced in the workshop. The bill cost me around 360.00 euros. If you can share more information about your vehicle, especially fault memory readout or other, I could help you better. Write more details. It could be that it's a different problem after all. Hope this helps you a little and all the best with your C1!
