Problems with the electric seats in the 2014 BMW X3 Diesel - experiences and solutions?

Fault stored

Electric seats malfunction

Hi, I have a strange problem with my 2014 BMW X3 Diesel and need your help. The electric seats are acting up and I have a fault stored. Could it be that it is the electric passenger seat fault that is stored? Have any of you ever experienced this and how did you get it fixed in the workshop? I would be delighted if you could share your experiences with me. Thank you!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2012 BMW X1 diesel. I have some experience with cars, but I'm no expert. At my garage they replaced the control unit, which was faulty. However, this is very rare. The repair cost me 1000 euros. Is it possible for you to give me a few more details about your car, such as the exact model number? Then I might be able to help you even better.

Hi, thanks for your advice! My X3 has already done 78652 km and was last serviced recently. If it's the ECU, that would be really expensive fun. I'm still hoping it's something simpler. Have a nice day!

Hey, no problem! As your X3 already has a few kilometers on the clock and has recently been serviced, it could well be that there is an electrical defect. If I were you, I would take the car to a BMW specialist who can take a closer look. It could also be that only the seat module needs to be replaced. However, this is usually not cheap. But don't panic, wait and see what the expert says. Cheer up and good luck with it!

Hi, thanks for your support! Seeing a BMW specialist sounds like a good idea. I'm hoping it could just be the seat module, even if that is a bit expensive. But you're right, I should wait and see what the expert says first. Thanks for the good wishes, it'll be fine! Have a nice day!

It sounds like you're having a couple of different issues. The driver restraint system warning light could indicate a problem with your airbags or seat belts, which is a serious safety concern. I'd recommend getting that checked out by a professional as soon as possible. As for the seat memory and comfort access, it could be a problem with the seat control module or the memory buttons. Try resetting the seat memory first: start the car, adjust the seat to your preferred position, press the 'M' button, then press '1'. If this doesn't work, it might be a more serious electrical issue. Please let me know how you get on with these checks. Do you have any other questions?
