Problems with the fan function on the Ford Fusion (2009) - defroster flap control error?
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Ford Fusion (2009) owner is experiencing issues with the fan not functioning properly and suspects a problem with the defroster flap control. A similar issue in a Ford Focus was resolved by replacing a faulty air conditioning control unit, which might be a potential cause. Another suggestion is to check the series resistor of the fan motor, especially if the fan issues occur at specific speeds. Consulting a garage for a professional diagnosis is recommended to identify and resolve the problem effectively.

Hey, thanks for your answer. It gives me courage to know that I'm not alone with this problem! Mine now has 136365 km on the clock and the last service was about 5000 km ago. I didn't get any special error codes, only the ventilation is going crazy. That's really annoying! But your tip about the air conditioning control unit sounds like a good approach. I'll ask the garage what they think. 880 euros is a lot of money, but if it solves the problem, why not. Thanks again!

No problem, I'm glad I could help you a bit! Yes, these ventilation problems can be really annoying. Another thing you could check is the series resistor of the fan motor. If this is broken, it can lead to problems with the fan speed. But that would be more likely if the fan only causes problems at certain speeds. If it's completely confused, you could be right about the defroster. It's really hard to say without having seen the car. The best thing to do is to ask the garage. Incidentally, the 880 euros I paid included installation and VAT, if that helps. Good luck with it!

Hm, I haven't actually considered the series resistor of the blower motor yet, that could also be an approach. I'll see what the mechanics at my garage think. It's nice to know that the 880 euros also includes installation and VAT. That reassures me a little. I'll keep you posted when I've solved the problem. Thanks again for your support and helpfulness!

Hi, I have a bit of experience, but I'm not really a car mechanic or anything. About a year ago I had a similar problem with my Ford Focus (built in 2007). In my case, it was the air conditioning control unit that was faulty. It messed up the whole air conditioning system. After some back and forth, I decided to have it repaired at the garage. They then replaced the faulty air conditioning control unit and it cost me about 880 euros. Now, to help you better, would it be good to know if you have any specific symptoms or fault codes? Hope that helps you a bit. Happy screwing!
