Problems with the gear indicator and warning light on the Peugeot 308 petrol engine 2021: sharing experiences and suggested solutions

Hey guys, do you have any experience with a 2021 Peugeot 308 gasoline engine that suddenly has display problems? The gear indicator in the speedometer doesn't work and the warning light comes on. Could this be due to a fault with the clutch pedal switch? How did you solve such a problem and what did your garages say about it? I would appreciate your tips and experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2019 Peugeot 3008 diesel. I have some experience with cars, but I'm far from an expert. At the garage they checked through all possible causes and found that the engine control unit was faulty. My repair costs amounted to 1000 euros and the problem was fixed. Your problem could possibly have a different cause. Maybe you can share more details about your car so we can help better. For example: Mileage, last inspection or if you have recently replaced parts. Hopefully I could help a little and keep my fingers crossed that your problem will be solved quickly.

Hey, thanks for your answer! My Peugeot 308 now has 186843 KM on the clock. The last inspection was recently, and everything was fine. Apart from that, I haven't replaced any parts or anything like that. Hopefully it's not as expensive as yours, I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for the help!

Hi, thanks for the additional information! With such a high mileage, wearing parts such as the clutch pedal switch could of course also cause problems, that's possible. Compared to my case, your problem could be with the gearshift. It would be best to have this checked in a workshop. They can check the gearshift in particular and also the engine control unit. My fingers are still crossed for you that it's not a big deal and can be fixed quickly. Let us know how it goes so that we can all learn from it! All the best!

Hi again, thanks for your reply again and your thoughts on this! I will take your advice and get the car into the garage as soon as possible. I hope it won't be anything serious. I'll definitely keep you posted and share my experience, maybe one or two others can benefit from it. Thanks again and see you later!
