Problems with the oil light and warning light in the Peugeot Rifter Diesel, year 2022: experience and troubleshooting tips

Oil light on

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Peugeot Rifter Diesel, year 2022. The oil light is on and the warning light in the speedometer shows problems. I think it has something to do with the engine oil pressure switch. Have you had similar experiences or any troubleshooting tips? How did you get it fixed at your garage and what were your experiences? I am grateful for any tips.

Hello, I only have mediocre experience with cars, but I had a similar problem with my Peugeot Partner Diesel, built in 2020, which is basically the little brother of your Rifter. In my case, however, the problem was that the wrong engine oil was in the engine. I changed the oil myself and probably got the wrong one. I then had it done at my garage, drained everything and had the correct oil filled in. It cost me 175 euros, so it wasn't exactly cheap. But I haven't had any more problems since then. Of course, there could be completely different reasons why the lights are coming on. What warning messages are you getting exactly? And when was the last time you changed the oil? With this information, I might be able to help you better. Regards

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! Last service was recently at 82542 KM. So I wasn't expecting it to be anything like that. The messages that come up are "engine malfunction" and "oil pressure too low". I can hardly imagine that they put the wrong oil in, but I will certainly have it checked. But it's good to know that such errors can happen. Thank you for the info and I hope it's nothing serious. Stay tuned! Ciao.

Hey, that sounds like a good starting point. The warning message "Oil pressure too low" does indeed occur if the oil pressure switch is defective, but it can also occur if the oil is too low or too old or if the oil does not match the vehicle brand. And with "engine fault" it can be anything from the spark plug to the piston. It's good that you have this checked! The message can also be triggered by a fault in the system, but it's always better to be on the safe side. It could also be that the switch simply has a loose contact and is therefore transmitting incorrect values to the system. In my case, an oil change ultimately helped to get rid of the message, but this may not be the solution for everyone. But as I said, it's a good start to limit the problem. If you have any further questions, please let me know! I'll help where I can. Good luck and let me know what comes out of the check! Regards

Hey, thanks again for the info! At least a loose contact doesn't sound as expensive as a completely new switch, so I'm hoping it's something like that. I'll take it up with the garage. I'll report back on what the garage said and whether we were able to fix the problem. Thanks again for your support. It shows again how valuable forums like this are. Until then, take care! Ciao.
