Problems with the seat heating in the Skoda Octavia 2018 - experiences and solutions wanted

Seat heating without function

Dear community, I have a problem with my Skoda Octavia (model year 2018, petrol engine). The seat heating somehow no longer works. I'm guessing that the seat heating is broken, but I'm not sure. Have any of you ever had similar problems and can give me tips on the best way to fix it? What was your experience at the garage? Any help is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Skoda Superb model year 2016. I'm not really that much of a car expert, so I had to rely more on the help of my garage. The fault with me was actually the heating mat in the seat, as you suspected. After a few discussions with the garage, this was replaced and the seat heating worked again. It cost me around 390 euros. Of course, it could be something else in your case, that's why: Is it really just the seat heating itself that's not working, or have you noticed other problems as well? Lights on the dashboard, smells, noises? Hope this helps you a bit. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! To answer your question, no, as far as I can tell, only the seat heater seems to be acting up. There are no strange noises, smells or lights on the dash. A bit expensive to repair, but what can you do when it gets cold, I really need the heated seats! My Skoda has also only done 51432 km and was last serviced before the problem occurred. So I'm a bit surprised. I was hoping it was just a minor electrical problem. But I think I'd better get it checked out at the garage. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem, I'm glad if I can help! I can understand you regarding the mileage, the seat heating in my Skoda also broke before 100,000 km. Very annoying! Of course, it could also be an electrical problem, that can't be ruled out. Something like a defective switch, a blown fuse, a broken cable or a defective seat occupancy sensor could also be the cause. Maybe you are lucky and it is not a total failure of the heating mats. The exact determination of the fault is generally not for amateurs and it can be expensive if you fiddle around with it yourself. That's why you should definitely have it checked in the workshop. They can usually find the fault quite quickly. And yes, the repair can be expensive. But you're right, a functioning seat heater is worth its weight in gold in winter! Hopefully I've been able to help you a little. Please keep us up to date and good luck with the repair!

Hey, thanks for the tip! You're probably right. It's probably better if I get it checked by a professional instead of tinkering with it myself and possibly causing more damage. I'll take the car to the garage soon and keep you posted here on what comes out of it. So, thanks again for your help. It's really reassuring to have someone who knows about this sort of thing.
