Problems with the transmission of a 2019 Mercedes GLE Class - possible defect in the transmission oil pressure cooler
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Mercedes GLE Class owner is experiencing transmission issues, including slipping, strange shifting, and grinding noises. The owner suspects a defect in the transmission oil pressure cooler. Another person with a similar issue suggested checking the cable connection valve, as it was the cause in their case. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected at a garage to diagnose the problem accurately.

Thank you for your answer! The gearbox oil was already changed at the last service (at 825 km). So it wasn't that long ago. I think I'll take my car to the garage and have the cable connection valve checked. You never know. Thanks for your advice!

No problem, I'm glad I could help! Yes, that's a good idea. Best to have it checked at the garage to be sure. Servicing can be tricky sometimes, and it's always better to be safe than sorry to avoid potential future problems. Good luck, and let us know how it went!

Hello, I had a problem shifting gears on my 2017 GLE with 85,000 km. The gears shifted automatically until 5th, then I shifted manually to get home. Nothing was illuminated on the dashboard except today when the orange engine light came on at startup. Could this be due to the second battery (apparently there are two) being weak? Thank you for your answers.

It's possible that a weak battery could cause electrical issues affecting the transmission, especially if the vehicle relies on electronic controls for shifting. However, the orange engine light indicates there might be a fault code stored in the system. I recommend checking the battery voltage first to ensure it's within the normal range. If the battery is fine, have the vehicle scanned for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) to pinpoint the issue. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

Mercedes GLE 400, 2017 model year, gasoline engine, approximately 90,000 km mileage. When driving slowly and turning the steering wheel fully - forward-backward/left-right doesn't matter - a strong, rhythmic "clatter-clatter-clatter" comes from the transmission area. I can't determine the cause. A specialist workshop has no idea; they want to replace the transfer case, but they're not even sure. I suspect the rear differential. Has anyone had similar experiences? Thanks G

Start by checking the universal joints and CV joints for wear or damage, as these can cause clattering noises when turning. If they appear fine, inspect the driveshaft for any signs of wear or imbalance. If the issue persists, it might be worth getting a second opinion from another workshop before proceeding with major replacements. Let me know if you find anything or have further questions!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2017 Mercedes GLC. I have some experience with cars, but I'm not an expert. In my case it was the cable connection valve that was faulty. The repair at my garage cost 1 euro. It's probably best to have it checked at a garage just to be sure. Do you happen to know if your car has ever had the gearbox oil changed? That could also be the problem. Hope this helps you!
