Problems with the windshield heating in a 2005 Renault Clio - experience and solutions wanted

Hey guys, I currently have a small problem with my Renault Clio (built in 2005, gasoline engine). Somehow the heating of my windows no longer works and an error is always displayed. Could it be that the function of the windshield heating is limited? Have any of you ever had similar problems and can possibly give me tips on what exactly the problem could be? I would be particularly interested to know what your garage did to fix the problem and what your experiences were. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Renault Megane (model year 2003, gasoline engine). My windshield heater also stopped working properly and also displayed an error. In my estimation, I have average experience with cars, so I'm not exactly a professional. I had it checked at my garage and it turned out that the heater wires were faulty. That was the cause of the problem. The repair cost me 585 euros, which was quite expensive, but everything worked perfectly again afterwards. Could you perhaps tell me a bit more about your car? How many kilometers has it driven or when was the last inspection carried out? That might help me to help you a bit more.

Sure, I can do that. My Clio has run 65429 km so far. The last inspection was recently, so that shouldn't be the problem. Thanks for your advice, I'll ask my garage if they can check the heater wires. I hope it won't be that expensive. Your answer really helped!

Hey, I'm glad I could help you! Your Clio hasn't done that many kilometers yet, so the heating wires could actually be the cause. If the car has been serviced regularly and there are no other problems, that sounds very plausible to me. In any case, have it checked at the garage and then let us know exactly what it was. This will certainly help other drivers who may have the same problem. Good luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed that the repair won't be as expensive as on my Megane!

Thank you! Your tip sounds really logical, I'll pass it on and have it checked. As soon as I've found out something, I'll let you know here. Your support really means a lot to me, thanks again! Hopefully the bill won't be as high as your Megane!
