Thanks for the quick reply. My Corolla has already done 183798 km and the last service was about 6 months ago. Could it also be because I often drive short distances? Hope that helps. Looking forward to more tips, thank you!

No problem, I'm glad if I can help. Yes, short journeys can be stressful for the diesel engine in the long term, as they can lead to the particulate filter or the exhaust aftertreatment systems not being able to work properly. This could lead to the symptoms you describe, such as loss of power and starting problems. I have been advised in such a case to occasionally drive a longer distance to burn off the particulate filter. However, if your check engine light is illuminated, it would be advisable to have the car checked by a garage in any case. It could also be something more serious that you can't simply fix yourself. Regarding the pressure fluctuations in the cylinders, I can only say that they have actually led to similar problems in my Auris. So it could well be the cause in your case too. Ultimately, however, only your garage knows the exact details. Maybe that will help. Let me know what the garage says. I'm curious to see if I was right with my assumption. Stay healthy and have a good journey!

Hmmm, interesting to know that short distances can actually cause such problems! I'll take your advice and try to drive longer distances more often. I'll get the car checked at the garage straight away - I hope it's nothing more serious and I'll be back on the road soon. It was very helpful to hear your experience and check out the possibility of a pressure fluctuation in the cylinder. I'll keep you posted as soon as I know more. Thank you and stay well too!

Hello there! I had a very similar problem with my 2013 Toyota Auris Diesel. I have very little car experience but have read up a bit on the subject. Because of this problem, I took my car to the garage and they did a full diagnostic test. It turned out that it was actually a secondary fault from other fault memory entries and they were able to fix the problem without me having to pay anything. Can you please give me more detailed information about your vehicle to better understand what could be happening? I hope this helps you!
