(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Toyota Hilux is experiencing issues such as the engine light being on, loss of power, starting difficulties, and twitching during acceleration. Possible causes include a malfunctioning cruise control, dirty intake ducts, or an overdue air filter change. Suggested solutions involve checking and possibly cleaning the intake ducts, changing the air filter, and using a fuel system cleaner. If these steps don't resolve the issue, consulting a mechanic is recommended.

Hi, thanks for your reply! I haven't actually checked my air filter for a while, so it could be that something is wrong. And I've never used a fuel system cleaner either... Maybe I should give that a try. By the way, my mileage is 229134 KM and the last service was about 6 months ago. I'll also check to see if the intake ducts are dirty. Hopefully that's the reason. It's a real pain in the ass with this car... But thanks for your tips, that really helps!

Hey, sure, no problem! I'm glad I could help you a bit. If your mileage is already that high and you haven't changed your air filter in a while, those could definitely be reasons for your problems. The fuel system cleaner is actually quite simple to use, just pour it into the tank and you're done. It worked well for me on my Land Cruiser! As for the misbehavior of the cruise control, that would also be a possibility. It's best to discuss this again with your mechanic. I would recommend that you first change the filter, use the fuel system cleaner and check the intake ducts. Maybe things will get better then. Hopefully you'll get the problem under control soon, good luck!

Hey, thanks again for your help! I will take your advice and do a filter change first and try this fuel system cleaner. I'll also have a look at the intake ducts. And if none of that helps, I guess I have no choice but to consult my mechanic. I just hope that it's not the running stability control that's to blame, that could be expensive... But at least now I have a starting point. Thank you very much for your time and your tips, that really helped me! And I'll keep my fingers crossed that I'll get it under control soon.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser. I'm not a mechanic, but I've spent quite a few hours under the hood, so I have a bit of experience. And, of course, problems with the engine running smoothness control could cause these symptoms, but in my case the intake ducts were heavily contaminated. It took my mechanic in the workshop a lot of time to clean them and cost me 425.0 euros. What about the maintenance of your car? Have you changed your air filter regularly and used fuel system cleaner? This could help prevent further build-up and could also be a temporary solution to your current problem. Please share more details about your car and the exact situation.
