Problems with transmission and ABS light in Opel Mokka (2017, gasoline): Experiences and solutions wanted

Hey guys! I'm currently having a problem with my Opel Mokka (2017, gasoline engine). The thing is: the transmission is slipping and shifting erratically, the ABS light is flashing and there are strange noises, like squealing and high pitched screaming. I read somewhere that the problem could possibly be oil wear in the transfer case. Have any of you experienced this and could advise me on what I should do? In particular, I would be interested to know how you solved this in your workshop and how much it cost. Thanks in advance for your help!

Summary of the thread

An Opel Mokka (2017, gasoline) is experiencing transmission slipping, erratic shifting, a flashing ABS light, and strange noises. A potential cause could be oil wear in the transfer case, as similar issues have been resolved by addressing worn gears in the transfer case. It is advised to have the vehicle inspected promptly to prevent further damage and to mention the ABS light issue, which might be a separate problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hello, I experienced something similar with my Opel Crossland X (2015, gasoline engine). I'm not a car professional, but I have average experience. In my case, it was actually a gear in the oil in the transfer case that was worn out. I had it checked at my garage and they repaired it. It cost me around 210 euros. Could you perhaps give me some more specific information about your vehicle? Maybe then I can help you better. Looking forward to your reply!

Hey, thanks for your reply! Sure, I can give you more information about my car. My Mokka has 86358km on the clock. Last service was about 6 months ago and nothing special was found. So, I suppose it could well be the transfer case. I'll probably have to have it inspected. Is it actually difficult to get an appointment?

Hey, no problem, you're welcome! So with the kilometers, it could be that it's the oil wear in the transfer case. In my Crossland X, the problem started around 80000km. To the appointment at the workshop: Normally it shouldn't be a problem to get an appointment, it might just take a little while depending on how busy they are. But I would definitely advise you not to wait too long. With gearbox problems like this, it's not good to drive for long as it could get more expensive over time. In my garage, the whole procedure took about two days. So be prepared to be without a car for a bit. Oh, and remember to mention the problem with the ABS light as well, that could be a separate issue. Hope this helps you!

Thank you, your tips are really helpful! I will follow your advice and try to get an appointment at the garage as soon as possible. It's always better to sort things like this out sooner rather than later. And I'll tell them about the ABS light too, thanks for thinking of that. I hope the whole thing doesn't end up being too expensive. Thanks again for your help!
