Thanks for your quick reply! Do you mean it could also be the control unit? That would of course be a completely different situation. I actually drive quite a lot of kilometers, now it's about 53431 km. I drive to work every day and that's an even 50 kilometers there and back. Fortunately, I've never had to look after the battery. However, I know that it was tested during my last inspection three months ago. There was nothing wrong with it then.

Hello again! It's good that you have your battery checked regularly, that's very important. It could very well be the control unit, but I wouldn't immediately paint the devil on the wall. Given the symptoms, other causes could also be possible. I'm particularly surprised by the changed light and the weakness when starting, which could also indicate a slowly dying alternator that is no longer producing enough power to fully charge the battery. With my Megane, I simply drove to the garage and told the people there what was wrong. They carried out several tests and identified the problem. Maybe you should consider doing the same? It costs a bit, but it gives you more security and you can be sure that everything will be checked properly. In any case, you shouldn't wait too long, otherwise even bigger problems could arise. I hope this helps you a little! Good luck with it and please give us an update on how it went in the end.

Hello again and thank you for your detailed information and advice. You're probably right, I should take the car to the garage and have it checked, so that's what I'll do. A faulty alternator would of course also be a possibility, but I haven't even thought about that yet. In any case, there is no way around having the car checked by experts. I will report what the problem was in the end. Thanks again for your help!

Hello, I don't have much experience with cars, but maybe I can give you a little insight. I had a similar problem with my Renault Megane, 2012 model. I took it to my local garage and they took a closer look. It turned out to be a faulty control unit and after it was replaced, the car ran again without any problems. That cost me about 600 euros. Could you tell us more about your car? How is your driving behavior, i.e. do you drive a lot and long distances? How old is the battery? Sometimes that can be the cause. The more information you provide, the better I (or someone else) may be able to help you.
