Problems with windshield wipers and warning light on Mini Cooper 2015 - suspected defective relay

Hi, I have a problem with my 2015 Mini Cooper petrol engine. The windscreen wipers are not working properly, there is something in the fault memory and the warning light in the speedometer comes on. I think the problem could be the relay for the windshield wipers, but I'm not sure. Do you have any advice or experience on how to get this solved in the workshop? Would love to hear your opinions and experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Mini Cooper S. I have limited experience with cars, but I took mine to a garage and they were able to diagnose the fault quickly, it was actually a faulty relay. The repair cost me around 375 euros. Can you please provide more information about the error messages you received? This would certainly help us to understand whether it is exactly the same problem.

Hello, my current mileage is 61278 km. Everything was fine at the last service. The error message is a bit confusing, only one error code is displayed, something with "wiper motor". Could this also be the relay? Your advice sounds really plausible, maybe I'll have the Mini checked at the garage. Thanks for the tip!

Yes, this could indeed indicate a problem with the relay. It was similar for me at the time, even if the fault was formulated slightly differently. The "wiper motor" is responsible for moving the windshield wipers and the relay controls it. So if something is not running smoothly, it could be the relay. But of course only a mechanic in the workshop can tell you for sure. In my experience, it wasn't too expensive and since replacing the relay, everything has been running smoothly again. So I would have it checked out. With these faults, quick action is always the best solution before anything else breaks. Keep your fingers crossed that it gets fixed quickly. Let me know what comes out!

Hello, yes that sounds sensible. It's always better to be on the safe side and have it checked by a professional. The cost sounds reasonable if it solves the problem permanently. I'll take the car to the garage tomorrow and see what they say. Thanks again for your help, this has really helped me. I'll get back to you as soon as I know more. See you then and thanks again!
