Puma diesel preheating lamp issue

Hi, I've got a 2021 Ford Puma diesel and I'm having some trouble. The preheating lamp on the dash isn't switching off, and I've plugged it into a code reader which says there's an error stored. I'm guessing it's a glow plug issue? Car has done 59239 km. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to be running fine otherwise, but I'm worried about engine damage or something. Any advice?

I had a similar issue with my Puma (although it's an older model) and the symptoms sound identical. The engine light stayed on and there was a noticeable decrease in performance, especially during cold starts. Was it hard to start your car? Is there any engine combustion?

Thanks for the quick response! No, it starts perfectly fine, even when it's cold. No problems with engine combustion either. Just the light that won't go out and the error code. Did yours start okay at first, or did the starting problems come on suddenly?

In my case, the starting problems were gradual, worsening over a couple of weeks. Given that yours starts okay, it could be a simpler issue, but a defective glow plug can definitely cause these symptoms. To be sure, I recommend that you visit a workshop. Ignoring it could lead to further damage.

Okay, thanks a lot for your help! I'll get it booked in at the workshop. It was indeed a defective glow plug – cost me 440€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the advice!
