Puma high fuel consumption stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Ford Puma owner reported issues of high fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. The suspected cause was a defective mass air flow sensor. Another individual with similar experiences confirmed that a faulty mass air flow sensor was indeed the problem, suggesting a workshop visit for proper diagnosis and replacement. The owner followed this advice, confirmed the diagnosis, and resolved the issue with a sensor replacement.

Thanks for the tip! I did check the air filter, and it seemed alright. I'm leaning towards the mass air flow sensor being faulty. Did your Puma also exhibit engine stalling? If so, what was the final diagnosis?

Yeah, the engine stalling was definitely part of it. Turned out to be a defective mass air flow sensor indeed. If you're seeing smoke, it's probably best to get it checked at a workshop. They can properly diagnose it and replace the sensor.

Appreciate the confirmation and advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on - defective mass air flow sensor. Replacement cost me 365€. Runs like new now, thanks again!

I had a similar problem with my Puma. Higher fuel consumption and the check engine light were the first signs. Have you checked your air filter lately? A dirty air filter can sometimes mess with the LMM readings, causing performance decline.
