Puma High Voltage System Error

I have a 2020 Ford Puma, hybrid engine, and lately it's been throwing a high-voltage system error message. What's going on? It's got around 39501 km on the clock. Sometimes the engine just shuts off completely, and other times it just feels like it has reduced power. The error is stored in the error memory, I checked with an OBD reader. Has anyone else experienced something like this? Could it be some kind of electrical fault?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Ford Puma with a hybrid engine is experiencing a high-voltage system error, causing the engine to shut off or lose power. The issue could stem from an electrical fault, possibly due to a defective high-voltage battery or rodent damage to the wiring. It is recommended to have the vehicle inspected by a professional, as the problem was ultimately traced to a defective high-voltage battery, which was resolved by a mechanic.

That sounds like a tricky situation. Since it's a hybrid, that high-voltage system error message could be a number of things. When did this start happening? Has it been after a specific event, like heavy rain or a service? Maybe a rodent got to the electrical wiring?

It started happening a few weeks ago, seemingly out of nowhere. No heavy rain or anything unusual that I can recall. Rodent damage, huh? Is that actually a common thing? Where would I even start looking for that?

Rodent damage to cables is unfortunately not that uncommon, especially if the car sits for extended periods. However, given the symptoms, and the error message, it really does sound like the high-voltage battery might be heavily discharged or even defective. Without proper diagnostic tools, it's hard to say for sure. I would advise to go to a workshop.

I appreciate the advice! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on! Turns out the high-voltage battery was indeed defective. Cost me around 290€ to get it sorted, but at least it's fixed. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
