Puma Hybrid Battery Drain

I'm having an intermittent issue with my 2021 Ford Puma (Hybrid). It seems like a Terminal 30 continuous plus interruption. Mileage is at 212654 km. The main problem is poor starting, and the battery seems heavily discharged. Could a bad battery cause this, or should I look for short circuits or wiring harness problems in the charging system?

Summary of the thread

The main issue discussed is an intermittent starting problem with a 2021 Ford Puma Hybrid, suspected to be related to a Terminal 30 continuous plus interruption and a heavily discharged battery. Potential causes considered include a bad battery, short circuits, or wiring harness problems in the charging system. It was suggested that the high-voltage system could affect the 12V charging circuit, leading to battery drain. The problem was resolved by diagnosing and replacing a defective battery.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds frustrating! With the hybrid system, could the high-voltage battery be affecting the 12V charging circuit? A voltage drop can indicate a more serious electrical fault, like a short circuit. Did you check the battery's voltage? What was the result?

Thanks for the insights. Could a failure in the high-voltage system directly affect the 12V charging circuit, causing the discharge I'm seeing? I measured the battery's voltage, but I'm not sure what the expected value is under load.

Yes, the high-voltage system can mess with the 12V system. The 12V system relies on the high-voltage system to stay charged. If the high-voltage system isn't working right, it can cause battery drain and starting issues. It would be good to have a professional diagnose the cause to prevent more damage.

I appreciate the confirmation about the high-voltage and 12V systems. I took your advice and had it diagnosed at a workshop. It was a defective battery, which has been replaced for 290€.
