Puma Hybrid Overheating

Thanks for getting back to me! The engine temp gauge is definitely going crazy, climbing way higher than it should. I haven't actually checked the radiator fan physically, I will do that. But how do I tell if the electric motor is cutting out? I wouldn’t even know what that feels like. Is there a specific sound or something I should be listening for? And how freely should the fan spin? Like, almost no resistance?

Right, gauge going nuts isn't ideal. As for the electric motor, on a hybrid, if it cuts out, you usually get a warning light or a message on the dash – something like 'Reduced Power' or similar. If you aren't seeing that, it's probably still working. Regarding the fan, it should spin relatively easily, but there will be some resistance. If it's seized or really stiff, that's a problem. Honestly, with overheating and electrics, it's tricky. It's likely a defective cable or plug connection. If you're not confident, I'd seriously consider getting it to a workshop. I paid 95€ to have this issue fixed.

Thanks so much for all your help! I took your advice and booked it into the workshop. They confirmed it was a defective cable connection and charged me 95€! You saved me a load of time messing about, I really appreciate it!

Overheating on a hybrid, eh? Bummer! First thing, is the electric motor cutting out? Or is it just the engine temp gauge going crazy? And have you checked the radiator fan itself? See if it's spinning freely, or if there's anything obvious blocking it. Could be something simple before you start tearing into the electrics.
