Puma immobilizer issue

I'm having a weird issue with my 2022 Ford Puma, gasoline engine. It's got almost 250k kilometers on the clock. Basically, it won't start. Sometimes it cranks, starts for like a second, then dies immediately. The error memory has something stored, but I don't have the equipment to read it myself. Could it be the car immobilizer? Maybe something with the ignition control or remote start? I'm a bit lost here.

That sounds awfully familiar. I had a similar problem with my Puma. The engine would fire, then instantly cut out. Does the security light flash or stay on when you try to start it? Could be an immobilizer fault like you say. It's a pain in the neck!

Yeah, the security light does flash when it won't start. Does that definitely mean it's the immobilizer? What did you do to fix it?

Flashing security light is a big clue. I'm no expert, but yeah, sounds like the immobilizer. I tried a few things myself, but eventually had to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They sorted it pretty quick. Best to get it checked professionally before you start throwing money at random parts.

Thanks. Took it to the shop, and you were spot on! Apparently the key programming was incorrect. Cost me 45€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the advice!
