The warning light is on, yes. No visible leaks that I can see. How did you determine that the issue was the brakes?

The brake system had some problems when I inspected it. It was a gradual thing; performance degraded over time. Given the mileage, worn brakes seem like the most probable explanation for you too. I would get it checked by a workshop, it is not a trivial task to diagnose.

I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. The brakes were worn and needed replacing. The repair cost was 480€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I had a similar issue with my Ford Puma. Is the warning light on? Check your brake lines for any leaks. It could also be a problem with the master cylinder, but in my case, it was the brakes themselves. Do you have a feeling when the problem started?
