Puma Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Error

I am experiencing an issue with my 2021 Ford Puma, gasoline engine. The check engine light illuminates, and an error related to the oxygen sensor heater circuit is stored in the error memory. I've also observed higher fuel consumption. Could this be related to a faulty oxygen sensor?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Ford Puma with a gasoline engine exhibited a check engine light and an error related to the oxygen sensor heater circuit, along with increased fuel consumption. The issue was suspected to be a faulty oxygen sensor or its heater circuit. After a visual inspection showed no obvious damage, further testing was recommended. Ultimately, a workshop visit confirmed a defective cable or plug connection, which was repaired, resolving the problem.

It certainly sounds like a plausible diagnosis. The symptoms you've described, along with the error code, strongly suggest a problem with the oxygen sensor or its associated heater circuit. Have you inspected the wiring and plug connection to the sensor? A damaged cable or a loose connection could very well be the culprit.

Thank you for the quick response. I have visually checked the wiring and connector, and I didn't observe any obvious damage. Is there a specific method for thoroughly testing the sensor and the heater circuit's functionality?

While a visual inspection is a good first step, a more definitive test would involve using a multimeter to check for voltage and continuity at the sensor connector. If you're not comfortable performing electrical testing, I would advise consulting a qualified technician. Given your symptoms, and the potential complexity of diagnosing sensor issues, a workshop visit would be a sensible next step.

Thank you for the advice. I followed your suggestion and took the Puma to a workshop. As suspected, the cable or plug connection of the component was defective. The repair cost me 95€. The problem is now resolved.
