Punto diesel starting and stalling issues
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Fiat Punto diesel with 145,000 km is experiencing starting and stalling issues, with the engine sometimes running roughly. The dashboard lights appear normal, leading to speculation about a possible ignition switch problem. However, a suggestion to check the ignition system fuse proved correct, as replacing a defective fuse resolved the issue, restoring the car's performance.

Cheers! Which fuse exactly are you talking about? And where is it located? Don't want to pull out the wrong one by accident.

I wish I could tell you exactly which one, but I don't remember anymore. It was a while ago when it happened to me. It's in the fuse box, which is under the dashboard, on the driver's side. Look at the diagram in your owner's manual. If you can't find it, I'd recommend taking it to a local garage. It was a fuse in my case, but it could be something more serious. At least they can diagnose it properly!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a garage, and you were spot on it was just a defective fuse. Cost me 52€ to get it replaced. Runs like a charm again!

I had a similar problem with my Punto. Engine cutting out randomly, sometimes struggling to start. Have you checked the fuses? There's one specifically for the ignition system. Might be worth a look before tearing into the ignition switch or starter motor!
