Thanks. Can I use a standard multimeter, or do I need special equipment to properly test the battery for the start-stop system?

A multimeter will give you a general idea, but not the full picture, especially under load. Given the symptoms, a workshop check is best for a definite diagnosis.

I took it to the workshop as advised, and the battery was indeed the problem. Replacement cost 290€.

Those symptoms suggest battery trouble with Fiat's Eco mode. Have you checked the battery voltage? A weak battery often makes the start-stop fail. Test it before assuming the worst.
