Punto Windshield Wipers Not Working

I've got a 2014 Fiat Punto with a gasoline engine and I'm having some trouble with the windshield wipers. They've stopped working. The error memory is showing a fault, so I checked the fuses, but they seem fine. Has anyone else had similar issues with their Punto's wipers? I suspect it could be a faulty connection somewhere, maybe around the rain sensor or the steering column, where the turn signal and wiper switch are. Any pointers before I start tearing things apart?
