Q2 Heavy Steering & Stability Control Alerts Need Fixing

My Q2 from 2022 (gas, 142527km) is giving me headaches with the steering lately. The wheel feels much heavier than usual and vibrates quite a bit, especially during turns. Im thinking it could be a sensor failure, specifically the steering angle sensor causing these alignment problems. My last mechanic visit wasnt great, so Im hesitant to go back. The electronic stability light occasionally flashes too. Has anyone experienced similar issues? Looking for recommendations on what to check first and trustworthy repair experiences.

Had the same symptoms on my 2019 Audi A3 with the 2.0 TFSI engine. The traction control light kept flashing and the steering became noticeably heavier, particularly during low-speed maneuvers. The root cause was indeed a faulty steering angle sensor, which directly affected the electronic stability system. The automotive sensors need precise calibration to work correctly with the steering column. Initially thought it was an alignment problem, but the diagnostic scan pointed to sensor coding issues. The repair involved: Full diagnostic scan of steering systems, Removal and replacement of the steering angle sensor, Recalibration of the new sensor, Reset of the stability control system This was a serious issue requiring immediate attention, as incorrect sensor readings can compromise vehicle stability and safety systems. The steering angle sensor is crucial for proper function of both traction control and stability systems. Best to have it checked soon, when these sensors fail, they typically dont recover on their own and the symptoms usually worsen over time.

Thanks for sharing your experience. This matches exactly what happened with my Q2 last month. The electronic stability warning was driving me crazy, and the heavy steering made parking a real challenge. Got it fixed with a new steering angle sensor and proper calibration to restore normal steering feel. The automotive sensors in these newer models can be quite sensitive. Did you happen to track the total repair cost? Also wondering if youve had any other steering column related issues since the fix?

Since the sensor replacement and recalibration on my A3, everything has worked perfectly. The steering feels smooth again, and the electronic stability system operates as intended with no warning lights. The total repair came to 195 Euro for the coding fix of the steering angle sensor, which was actually less than expected. The wheel alignment and overall handling have remained stable with no further steering column complications. Its important to address these sensor issues promptly, as they directly impact the electronic stability control and can lead to more severe problems if left unchecked. This type of repair is fairly common on modern vehicles where automotive sensors play a crucial role in safety systems. Getting the proper diagnosis and calibration is essential, its not just about replacing parts but ensuring they communicate correctly with the vehicles computer systems.

I finally got my Q2 fixed last week after dealing with all those steering issues. Found a certified shop specializing in automotive sensors and electronic systems. The mechanic ran a complete diagnostic check and confirmed what we suspected, the steering angle sensor was shot. The repair took about 3 hours total. They replaced the sensor, recalibrated the steering column, and reset all the stability control systems. The final bill came to 280 Euro, including parts and labor. Honestly worth every cent since the car drives like new again. The heavy steering is completely gone, no more vibrations during turns, and the traction control system works perfectly now. Really glad I didnt wait longer as the mechanic mentioned these problems can cascade into bigger alignment issues if left unfixed.
