Q4 e-tron Sensor Glitch Disrupts Multiple Systems

Need help with Audi Q4 e-tron sensor malfunction affecting multiple systems. Car refuses to engage AC, windshield spray nozzles freeze up in cold weather, and mirror heating stays inactive. Error message shows in system. Suspecting fog sensor electrical issue might be the root cause. Has anyone experienced similar visibility and climate control problems with their 2022 Q4? Particularly interested in confirmed workshop fixes and repair costs. Looking to understand if sensor calibration resolved these issues for others before booking a service appointment.

Had a similar sensor malfunction cluster on my 2021 Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron. With some experience working on EVs, I initially thought it was a humidity sensor issue, but it turned out to be more basic. The workshop found a faulty cable connection affecting multiple automotive sensors. The symptoms matched yours exactly, climate control dead, washer system issues, and mirror heating malfunction. The dashboard warning kept showing up intermittently. The fix was straightforward once diagnosed, they found and repaired a loose connector bundle near the main sensor cluster. Total cost was 95 Euro including diagnostic time. Everything worked perfectly after that. Before you book a service appointment, could you share: Current mileage, Exact error message displayed, Whether these issues started gradually or all at once, If you notice these problems more in specific weather conditions This info would help confirm if youre dealing with the same connector issue I had. These sensor problems can cascade into multiple systems, but the root cause is often simpler than it seems.

My car just passed 64260 KM and had its last service check 3 months ago. The problems started suddenly after a cold night. The dashboard warning appeared right after startup, showing Error Code P0653. It definitely seems like the same connector issue you mentioned. The climate control and sensor problems persist regardless of weather, though the washer nozzle issue is worse in cold conditions. Thanks for sharing your experience, will book a diagnostic check to verify if its the same root cause.

Thanks for providing those details. Based on the error code P0653 and the sudden onset after cold weather, this matches my experience exactly. The sensor cluster issues on my Q4 also appeared abruptly after temperature changes. The error code specifically points to a 5-volt reference voltage circuit problem, which aligns with the loose connector diagnosis I mentioned. When the humidity sensor and other automotive sensors lose proper voltage, it triggers this cascade of system failures. Since your mileage is similar to when I had the issue (I was at 62000 KM), and the symptoms are identical, Im confident your electrical issue stems from the same root cause. The fact that your washer nozzle problems worsen in cold conditions particularly matches my experience. The sensor calibration wasnt necessary in my case, once they secured the connector, all systems restored immediately. My suggestion would be to specifically mention the P0653 code and loose connector possibility to the workshop. This could save diagnostic time and costs. Just monitor if any new dashboard warning lights appear before your appointment. Keep documenting when the issues occur, as this helps pinpoint if other sensors might be affected.

The timing of your response matches perfectly with what I was experiencing. Really helpful to know the P0653 code and connector diagnosis lines up with these windshield fogging and sensor issues. My washer problems are definitely worse during cold weather too, just like yours. Going to mention the loose connector possibility when booking the appointment. The service center might spot it faster since the symptoms are so similar. Will bring up that both the humidity sensor and automotive sensor malfunctions started right after that cold night, along with the climate control problems. Got an appointment booked for next week, total diagnostic fee quoted at 85 Euro. Will save the full documentation of when these issues occur, especially noting how the car sensor problems seem consistent regardless of weather, except for those freezing washer nozzles. Thanks for helping narrow down the likely cause.
