Thanks for sharing your experience. I had an almost identical door sensor issue with my Q7 recently. Were you able to get this sorted at a dealer? Mine was still under warranty but I remember the service advisor mentioning the door actuator replacement alone would have been around 650 Euro without labor costs. The door electronics diagnostic took quite a while too. Just wondering if you had any problems after the repair? My keyless access has been working fine for 3 months now, but sometimes I notice a slight delay when using the door handle sensor in cold weather.

Glad I can follow up about my Q5 door electronics issue. Since seeing the mechanic, they found it was actually just a loose cable connection to the door handle sensor, much simpler than a full door actuator replacement. The repair cost was only 95 Euro to fix the faulty connection in the locking system. The diagnosis showed the door switch wiring had worked loose from its plug, causing intermittent electric door failures. Once they reconnected and secured the wiring properly, the keyless entry has worked perfectly for over a year now, even in cold conditions. This was a much better outcome than potentially replacing the entire door actuator assembly. Sometimes these electric door issues can be resolved with basic connection repairs rather than costly component replacements. The slight delay you mentioned with the door handle sensor could be normal temperature-related behavior, but worth monitoring to ensure the locking system stays reliable. At least your warranty covered the repairs in your case.

Finally got my door electronics fixed and wanted to update everyone. After getting multiple opinions, I took it to a certified shop specializing in luxury vehicles. The diagnostic revealed similar issues to what others mentioned, a damaged wire harness in the door mechanism was causing the keyless entry problems. The door handle sensor needed recalibration and they found some water damage affecting the door electronics. Total repair came to 480 Euro including labor. The door actuator itself was actually fine, saving me from a much more expensive fix. Been about 2 weeks now and the keyless access works perfectly, no more error messages or delays when using the door handle. Really glad I got a second opinion instead of rushing into a complete door mechanism replacement. The thorough diagnostic approach definitely made the difference in finding the real issue. Good lesson learned about finding the right shop with proper diagnostic equipment for these complex door electronics problems. Much better outcome than my previous experiences with general repair shops.

The door electronics failure you describe matches what I experienced with my 2018 Audi Q5. The door actuator malfunction showed similar symptoms, keyless entry stopped working and the car displayed door mechanism errors. The root cause was a faulty door handle sensor connection, where the wiring harness had developed a short circuit. The door electronics system needed a complete diagnostic test to pinpoint the exact failure point in the locking system. This is typically a serious issue requiring specialized equipment to properly diagnose. The repair involved replacing the door actuator assembly and reconnecting the electrical components. The door handle sensor also needed recalibration after the new parts were installed. The repair took about 4 hours at an authorized service center. These door electronics issues often get misdiagnosed as simple battery problems, but proper testing revealed the deeper electrical fault in the locking system components. Given the complexity of modern keyless entry systems, getting this diagnosed and repaired at a shop with proper diagnostic tools is crucial for a lasting fix. My car has worked flawlessly since the repair with no recurring door actuator issues.
