Last service at 143989 KM. Thanks for the detailed response. You helped me narrow down the issue. I checked the fuse box first and all fuses were intact. The washer motor and pump seem to work since I can hear them running. The error message reads Washer System Malfunction. After some testing, I found the problem only occurs in freezing temperatures, but works perfectly in warmer weather. The issue started about 2 weeks ago when temperatures first dropped below zero. The heating element must be the culprit since the washer fluid is not frozen in the tank but seems to freeze in the lines or nozzles. Will book a workshop appointment to have them check the wiring and heating system. Good to know the repair costs were reasonable in your case.

Thanks for the additional details. Your symptoms match exactly what I experienced with my Q7, especially the part about hearing the washer motor running but getting no fluid output in cold weather. The working system in warmer temperatures really confirms the heating element issue. The windshield washer heater circuit is pretty well protected in the fuse box, so finding intact fuses matches the diagnosis pattern. The failure point is typically where the heating element wiring runs through the engine bay, as it can get damaged from engine heat cycles over time. Since getting my heating element fixed, I made sure the workshop also flushed the entire washer system and spray nozzles to prevent any residual blockage. Might be worth asking them to include this in your service, it only adds about 15-20 Euro to the total cost but helps ensure the windshield wipers and sprayers work optimally after the repair. If your mileage is near 144000 km, this is actually a common wear point for these components in Audi models. The heating element wiring tends to show age-related issues around this range, so the timing fits the typical pattern.

Thanks for helping diagnose this issue. Your experience really matched my situation perfectly. I just scheduled an appointment for next week and specifically requested they check the washer fluid heating element wiring and flush the system as suggested. The shop quoted 120 Euro for the complete service including the system flush, which seems fair based on your repair costs. Good to know this is a common wear point at my mileage. The washer motor sound with no fluid output was driving me crazy, but now I understand its just the heating element failing to prevent freezing in the lines. Will update the forum once the repair is done in case others run into similar cold weather washer system problems. Nice that the fuse box check ruled out simpler issues first. Hoping the wiring fix will be as straightforward as yours was. Getting tired of manually cleaning the windshield in freezing temperatures while waiting for this repair.

Having some experience with European vehicles, I had a similar issue with my 2017 Audi Q7. Initially thought it was just frozen washer fluid, but the windshield heater system showed similar error messages during winter driving conditions. Took it to a workshop where they diagnosed the issue, turned out the heater malfunction was caused by a faulty cable connection to the washer fluid heating element. The washer system has clogged nozzles that were not getting properly heated, causing the fluid to freeze at the output points despite being liquid in the tank. The repair involved: Testing the fuse box connections, Replacing damaged wiring to the heater component, Cleaning the spray nozzles Total repair cost was 95 Euro, mostly labor since the wiring repair was straightforward once diagnosed. The system has worked flawlessly through two winters since the fix. To better assist with your Q8, could you share: When did the problem first start? Does it work normally in warmer temperatures? Which error message exactly appears on your display? Have you checked if the fuses are intact? This info would help determine if you are dealing with the same underlying issue.
