Yes, the error message is persistent. Did you ever figure out what was causing it? Was it really the wiring?

Yep, persistent like a bad penny. Turned out to be a dodgy connection, just like you suspected. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop; fiddling with those systems can be a real can of worms.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the shop, and you were right – defective cable connection. Repair cost was 95€ Appreciate the help!
