When you mention the wiring loom, are you referring to the door handle electronics' cable or plug? How did you troubleshoot the door switch and mechanism?

Yep, the wiring that feeds the door handle. It's a common weak spot. I didn't troubleshoot it myself beyond a visual inspection. I took it to a workshop because of the airbags. They quickly diagnosed a faulty connection. If you're not comfortable with electrics, do the same.

A trip to the workshop located a defective plug connection. The 95€ repair resolved it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Sounds familiar. I'd check the wiring loom where it passes from the body into the door. They can get pinched. Did you check the door switch and door mechanism already?
