Qashqai Oil Pressure Warning

Alright, I've got a bit of a head-scratcher with my 2022 Nissan Qashqai hybrid. It's got about 249334 km on the clock. Recently, the warning light in the speedometer popped up, and the oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up. I'm thinking maybe I'm overdue for an oil change, but could it be something more serious like an oil leak or even oil sludge buildup? Any thoughts?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Nissan Qashqai hybrid with high mileage displayed an oil pressure warning light, prompting concerns about overdue maintenance or potential issues like oil leaks or sludge buildup. Possible causes discussed included overdue oil changes, engine wear, or the use of oil additives by a previous owner. The recommended solution was to consult a certified technician for a diagnostic assessment, which led to an oil change and filter replacement, resolving the issue.

Greetings. I have also experienced comparable difficulties with my Nissan Qashqai. The illumination of the oil pressure warning lamp in conjunction with the general warning light indicates a potential compromise in the engine's lubrication system. While an overdue maintenance interval is a plausible explanation, other factors warrant consideration. Have you observed any atypical engine noises, such as knocking or ticking, particularly during cold starts? Furthermore, scrutinize the engine oil for any indications of discoloration or the presence of metallic particles, as these could signify internal engine wear. It is imperative to ascertain whether any oil additives have been introduced into the engine, as these substances can occasionally engender unforeseen consequences.

Thanks for the detailed response! I haven't noticed any strange noises, thankfully. I'll check the oil for metal particles, but what kind of 'unforeseen consequences' are we talking about with oil additives? I've never used them myself, but I bought the car used, so I can't be 100% sure what the previous owner did.

The integration of aftermarket oil additives possesses the capacity to disrupt the delicate equilibrium of the engine's lubrication system. Certain additives may precipitate chemical reactions that culminate in the formation of deleterious byproducts, such as sludge, which impede oil flow and diminish the efficacy of lubrication. Furthermore, additives can potentially compromise the integrity of engine seals, thereby engendering oil leaks. In light of the aforementioned factors, I advocate for a consultation with a certified automotive technician to conduct a comprehensive diagnostic assessment. It is conceivable that an oil change, in conjunction with a thorough engine flush, may ameliorate the symptoms; however, a meticulous inspection is indispensable to preclude any underlying mechanical anomalies.

Okay, I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop as you suggested. Turns out I had indeed exceeded the maintenance interval by quite a bit! An oil change and filter replacement sorted it out, cost me about 165€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
