Qashqai rain light sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Nissan Qashqai experienced issues with the rain-light sensor, affecting auto-wiping, headlight control, and speedometer dimming. The problem was suspected to be due to sensor calibration or an electrical fault. Upon inspection, bubbles were found under the sensor's gel pad, leading to its replacement and recalibration, resolving the issue.

Good call! Yeah, it seems worse when it's raining, which is kind of the point of a rain sensor, isn't it? I haven't actually looked that closely at the sensor itself...where exactly is it located, and what kind of damage should I be looking for?

Usually, it's behind the rearview mirror, stuck to the windshield. I bet you'll find bubbles under the gel pad! Then it's a new gel pad and potentially a new sensor. I'd advise taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed and sorted; car electronics can be a pain!

Cheers, appreciate the pointer! You were spot on – tiny bubbles under the sensor gel pad! Workshop confirmed it and replaced the gel pad and recalibrated the sensor. Cost me 62€ – not too bad. Everything's working perfectly again. Thanks a bunch!

Sounds like a proper sensor fault alright! Does it happen all the time, or just when it's damp? Have you checked the sensor itself for any visible damage or condensation? Wonder if it could be a dodgy auto sensor causing all the chaos.
